Terms & Conditions
Terms and conditions for computer repairs, IT support, data recovery, web design and website hosting from IT Solutions in Buxton.
Last updated: October 2026
These Terms & Conditions explain the terms on which IT Solutions provides computer repairs, IT support, web design, website hosting and related services.
By using our website or agreeing to our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Different or additional terms may apply to specific services where agreed with you in writing.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. About IT Solutions
IT Solutions is an independent IT business based at:
IT Solutions
Burlington House
20 Hardwick Street
Buxton
Derbyshire
SK17 6DH
Telephone: 01298 22396
We provide computer and laptop repairs, data recovery, computer sales and upgrades, business IT support, web design, website hosting and related services.
2. Computer Repairs and Diagnosis
When you bring a computer, laptop or other device to us for repair, we will assess the device and identify the reported fault or faults as far as reasonably possible.
A £30 diagnostic and inspection fee applies to repair assessments.
If you proceed with a repair, the £30 diagnostic fee is deducted from the repair cost.
Our minimum total charge for repair work is £75. Where a problem can be diagnosed and resolved as part of the inspection process, including straightforward software repairs, troubleshooting or maintenance, the total charge will normally be £75 rather than the £30 diagnostic fee plus a further £75 charge.
For example, where we diagnose and resolve a software problem without requiring replacement parts or significant additional work, the total charge may be £75.
Where a repair is expected to require additional work or parts beyond the agreed amount, we will contact you for approval before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.
3. Quotes and Additional Work
Where a repair requires additional work, we will provide an estimate or quotation where reasonably possible.
Quotes are based on the information available at the time and may change if further faults are discovered after diagnosis or during the repair.
We will seek your approval before carrying out additional chargeable work where the cost is expected to exceed the amount agreed with you.
In some cases, further faults may only become apparent once a device has been opened, tested or repaired. We will explain any significant additional work required before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
4. Repair Times
We will provide an estimated repair time where possible.
Repair times can vary depending on the fault, availability of parts, supplier delivery times and the amount of work required.
Any repair time given is an estimate unless a specific completion date has been agreed with you.
5. Repair Warranty
Replacement parts
New replacement parts supplied and fitted by IT Solutions are covered by a six-month warranty, unless a longer manufacturer's warranty applies.
The warranty covers failure of the replacement part or the work carried out by IT Solutions.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by accidental damage, misuse, liquid damage, physical damage, malware, subsequent faults or other problems unrelated to the original repair.
Where a replacement part fails within its applicable warranty period, we will assess the fault and, where appropriate, repair or replace the faulty part.
Software repairs
Software repairs and software-related work are covered for 30 days.
This applies to the software problem addressed as part of the original repair. It does not cover unrelated faults, new problems, malware or changes made to the device after the repair.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.
6. Data and Backups
Customers are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important data.
While we take reasonable care when handling customer equipment, computer repairs can involve risks to data, particularly where a hard drive, SSD, operating system or other storage device is already faulty or damaged.
We cannot guarantee that data will remain intact during repair work.
Where we identify a significant risk to your data, we will explain the situation and, where appropriate, recommend a backup or data recovery service before proceeding.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
7. Passwords and Access
We may require passwords, login details or other access information in order to carry out certain repairs or services.
Customers should provide only the information reasonably necessary for us to carry out the requested work.
We will take reasonable care when handling customer information and will not intentionally access, copy or disclose personal files except where reasonably necessary to diagnose, repair or provide the requested service.
Our handling of personal information is also covered by our Privacy Policy.
8. Data Recovery
Data recovery is carried out on a best-efforts basis and successful recovery cannot be guaranteed.
Storage devices that have suffered physical, electronic or logical failure may deteriorate further during recovery attempts.
Where we identify significant risks, we will explain these before proceeding where reasonably possible.
Recovered data may be incomplete, corrupted or otherwise unusable.
The £30 diagnostic and inspection fee applies whether or not data recovery is ultimately successful.
Any further data recovery work or associated costs will be explained and agreed before proceeding.
9. Collection of Equipment
We will contact you when your repair is complete and ask you to arrange collection.
We ask customers to collect completed repairs within 30 days.
If equipment remains uncollected, we may make reasonable attempts to contact you and arrange collection.
Where equipment remains uncollected for an extended period despite reasonable attempts to contact you, we may contact you to agree a reasonable deadline for collection and may take further appropriate action in accordance with applicable law.
We will not deliberately dispose of or otherwise deal with customer property without taking reasonable steps to contact the owner and considering their legal rights.
10. Payment
Payment is due when the agreed work has been completed unless different payment terms have been agreed in advance.
We may require payment before equipment is released.
For business customers, agreed payment terms will apply where these have been provided in writing.
All prices and charges will be communicated to you before work is carried out wherever reasonably practicable.
11. Computer Sales and Upgrades
Where we supply new or refurbished computers, laptops, components or other equipment, the goods supplied will be as described at the time of sale.
Manufacturer warranties may apply to products supplied by us.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or limits your statutory rights relating to goods.
Where we carry out an upgrade or modification to existing equipment, we will explain the work being proposed and any associated costs before proceeding.
12. Web Design
We provide website design and development services using platforms and technologies appropriate to the project.
The scope of each website project, including the work to be carried out, timescales and price, will normally be agreed with the customer before work begins.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate information, content, images, branding and other materials required for their website unless we have agreed to provide these services.
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the website performs as agreed.
Third-party services, software, plugins, themes, licences, hosting providers and other external services may be required for a website to operate.
These third-party services are subject to their own terms and conditions.
13. Website Ownership
Once all invoices relating to a website project have been paid in full, the customer owns the website and the website content created for them by IT Solutions.
This does not transfer ownership of third-party software, themes, plugins, fonts, stock photography, licences, subscriptions or other materials that are licensed rather than owned outright.
Third-party products and services remain subject to the licence and usage terms of their respective providers.
For example, where a website uses a third-party product such as Divi, the customer owns their website but does not automatically acquire ownership of the underlying Divi software or licence.
Where a third-party licence or subscription is required, we will explain any applicable costs and requirements.
14. Website Hosting
Website hosting is charged annually.
Website hosting is normally invoiced on 1 December for the following calendar year.
Hosting fees must be paid by the due date.
If hosting remains unpaid, we may suspend the website hosting service during January following the invoice date.
We will make reasonable efforts to contact customers regarding unpaid hosting fees before suspension.
Hosting charges are separate from website design, maintenance and other services unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Where hosting is cancelled or transferred to another provider, the customer remains responsible for any outstanding charges due up to the date of cancellation.
15. Domains
Domain names may be registered or managed on behalf of customers where agreed.
Domain registrations and renewals are subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant domain registrar or registry.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the contact information associated with their domain is accurate.
Unless otherwise agreed, domain ownership and registration details will be maintained in the customer's name or business name.
16. Website Maintenance and Third-Party Services
Where we provide website maintenance, updates, security, backups or other ongoing services, the scope and price of those services will be agreed separately.
Websites may depend on third-party software and services, including WordPress, themes, plugins, hosting providers, email services, analytics platforms and other external systems.
We cannot guarantee that third-party services will remain available, compatible or supported indefinitely.
Where a third-party service requires a paid licence or subscription, the customer is responsible for the applicable licence or subscription cost unless otherwise agreed.
17. Business IT Support
Business IT support may include remote support, monitoring, software updates, security updates, Microsoft 365, email, networking, troubleshooting and other IT services.
The services provided, charges and response arrangements will depend on the support package or agreement entered into with the customer.
Where a separate business support agreement exists, that agreement will take precedence over these general Terms & Conditions where there is a conflict.
18. Website Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information published on the IT Solutions website is accurate and up to date.
However, information on the website is provided for general information and may change without notice.
We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, completely error-free or continuously up to date.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
19. Liability
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for problems caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including failures of third-party services, internet services, manufacturers, suppliers, software providers or other external systems.
We will not be responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated at the time the contract was entered into.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability for anything that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
20. Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights relating to goods and services supplied by us.
These include rights relating to the quality of goods and the way services are performed.
Our Terms & Conditions are not intended to remove or restrict those rights.
Where a service does not conform to the contract, consumers may have rights including repeat performance or a price reduction depending on the circumstances.
21. Online and Distance Contracts
Where you enter into a contract with IT Solutions remotely, for example online, by email or by telephone, additional consumer protection rules may apply.
Where applicable, we will provide the information required by law, including information about cancellation rights.
Where a customer asks us to begin providing a service during a statutory cancellation period, we may require the customer to expressly request this before work begins.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes any statutory cancellation rights that apply.
22. Complaints
We want to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.
If you are unhappy with a service, repair or other aspect of your dealings with IT Solutions, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate the issue.
You can contact us at:

20 Hardwick Street

SK17 6DH
Telephone: 01298 22396
We will consider complaints fairly and aim to resolve them directly wherever possible.
23. Privacy
We collect and use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and the rights available to you.
24. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices or legal requirements.
The version applicable to a particular service will normally be the version in effect when the relevant contract was agreed.
Where a separate written agreement has been entered into with a customer, that agreement will take precedence over these general Terms & Conditions where there is a conflict.
25. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any rights a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction where applicable.
